Our Terms, Before You Ask

Most people selling a transformer have already had a bad experience with this trade: a broker who tied up the equipment for months, a scrap yard that quoted by the pound, or a buyer who expected the seller to arrange a crane and a lowboy. Our terms exist specifically to remove those three problems, and we publish them rather than negotiate them.

Money first, equipment second

We pay in full before a single strap goes on your unit. Most buyers in this trade pay on delivery to their yard, or worse, after they have tested and resold what they took. We do the opposite: funds are issued and confirmed, and only then does our crew rig and lift.

No testing, no inspection contingency

Our offer is not subject to a test result. We do not require oil analysis, turns ratio, power factor or an inspection at our facility before committing. We price from the nameplate and your photographs and we stand behind that number.

Freight and rigging are ours

The crane or boom truck, the rigging crew, the permits, the escorts and the heavy-haul trucking are all on our side of the ledger. You receive a net number for the equipment and pay nothing to have it removed.

Paid before we load

All payments are made upfront, in full, before your equipment is loaded. Not on delivery, not net thirty — you never wait on us for your money.

Equipment We Purchase

We buy distribution and power transformers across the full range of the US market — the standard-voltage padmounts behind commercial buildings, the dry-types inside them, the pole-mount cans in utility surplus yards, and the station-class units that require a route survey and a permit package to move. Condition is not a barrier: working, de-energized, surplus and internally failed units are all routine purchases.

Padmount Transformers

Pad-mounted distribution transformers are the single most liquid item we buy. A dead-front loop-feed unit in the 75 to 2500 kVA range with a legible nameplate and a sound tank can be priced from photographs the same day.

Oil-Filled Transformers

Liquid-filled units — mineral oil, silicone or ester — from 25 kVA pole-mounts up to 20 MVA power transformers. Oil is not a problem for us; containment, testing and disposal are part of what we do.

How a Sale Works

You send the nameplate

One photograph of the nameplate carries almost everything we need: kVA, primary and secondary voltage, fluid type, manufacturer and year. Add a wide shot showing where the unit sits and how a truck would reach it, and tell us the quantity and whether it is working, de-energized or failed.

We return a firm number, usually same day

Not a range, not an estimate subject to inspection. A number, with the removal included. There is no testing requirement and no inspection contingency — if the equipment matches the nameplate and the condition you described, that is the price.

You are paid in full, then we load

On acceptance we send insurance certificates and a bill of sale, and we issue payment by wire, ACH or certified check before anything is lifted. Only once funds are confirmed does our crew mobilize.

Our crew removes it at our cost

Crane or boom truck, riggers, permits, escorts and heavy-haul trucking are all ours. Conduit cut and capped, anchor bolts cut flush, pad left broom-clean. You are not invoiced for any part of the removal.

Our sellers are rarely in the business of selling equipment. They are facilities engineers, plant managers, demolition superintendents, co-op operations staff and project managers who have a transformer in the way of a schedule. The common thread is that the removal matters more than the last dollar — which is why paying upfront and covering the rigging closes more deals for us than shaving the offer ever would.

Common Questions

When exactly do you pay?
Upfront and in full, before your equipment is loaded onto our truck. Payment goes out by wire, ACH or certified check and clears before our crew rigs the unit. We do not pay on delivery, we do not pay net thirty, and we do not hold funds pending testing or resale.
Do I need to have the transformer tested first?
No. We require no testing, no inspection report and no oil analysis. We price from the nameplate and your photographs, and our offer is not contingent on a test result or on what we find after the unit reaches our yard. If you happen to have oil analysis or electrical test data it can raise the offer, but it is never required.
Who pays for the crane, the riggers and the trucking?
We do, in every state. The crane or boom truck, the rigging crew, street occupancy and oversize permits, escorts and the heavy-haul trucking are all our cost. You receive a net number for the equipment and pay nothing toward its removal.
Do you buy failed or non-working transformers?
Yes, routinely. A failed unit still holds copper or aluminum windings, core steel, a usable tank and often salvageable accessories such as tap changers, radiators and bushings. Failed units are priced below serviceable ones and well above scrap weight.
Are you a broker or a listing service?
Neither. We buy on our own account and take title to the equipment. There is no listing period, no commission and no third party deciding whether your unit sells. That is what makes it possible for us to commit to a price and a removal date at the same time, and to pay before we load.
What sizes do you buy?
From 15 kVA control and dry-type units up to 100 MVA station-class power transformers. Single units and fleets both work — a lone 500 kVA padmount, forty dry-types out of an office retrofit, or four hundred pole-mount cans out of a co-op surplus yard.
What do you need to make an offer?
A nameplate photograph, a wide site photo, the quantity, and whether the unit is working, de-energized or failed. That is enough for a firm number in most cases.
